Credits: Supervision by – Rudolf Ising Summary: Circus shenanigans. Description: The setting is a circus, where the kind of clown that gives kids nightmares is doing his tumbling act. A marching band goes by performing the title song; some members include a kangaroo that plays trombone while her child plays the clarinet in her pouch, and an inventive lion who uses a dog to replace the torn skin of his drum. The spectators begin to sing the title song, while we watch a black clown and a pipe-smoking dachshund-on-a-unicycle go by. Then we see a car carrying a caged lion drive through a pipe, and emerge with the driver in the cage and the lion in the driver’s seat. After that we see monkeys use a lion’s tail as a jump rope, and then we hear the complaints of the street cleaner who’s following the elephants. We now take a look at the sideshow, where the announcer introduces such acts as Jo Jo the Wild Man (a stereotyped African native), Gumbo the India Rubber Man (who turns himself into a tire and a bouncing ball), Siamese twin hogs (one smokes a cigar, the other exhales), a tattooed strong man (whose head as an effeminate flip-side, and whose tattoo of a woman increases her derriere as he flexes his arm), and a hula-dancing hippo who is tickled by a mouse with a party favor (she then thinks the strong man is the culprit and slaps him in the face, causing his ship tattoo to sink). The announcer then introduces “the skinny man from India”, who is revealed to be Mahatma Ghandi, accompanied by a dancing goat. Under the big top we meet Fifi the bareback rider (though a mishap causes the horse to ride her), a mouse who rides a bicycle on an elephant, and a female cat who sings the title song during her high-wire act. Meanwhile, outside the tent, a group of very creative mice use an ostrich and a slingshot to gain free admission. The last act is a lion tamer, where after the standard man-puts-head-in-lion’s-mouth bit, the lion puts his head into the lion tamer’s mouth! After this the lion suddenly starts scratching his back frantically, finally pulling out his teeth to bite the fleas off of him. The end.
