Summary:

Nightclub performer Goopy Geer entertains the crowd.

Description:

In a crowded nightclub, all the customers are shouting for Goopy Geer. After numerous curtains lift and part, the star performer himself emerges on stage. Goopy, a dog-like character, begins playing “I Have Not Studied Music” on the piano. He uses not only his fingers but his ears too, and is also able to slap keys right off his piano. After this number he hears a trio of cats slurping up their soup, and begins to play “Sidewalks of New York” to their slurping sound. The three cats share the same curious chewing habits of the four cats seen in Freddy the Freshman. In the audience, a cow eating spaghetti plucks his food like guitar strings, then turns his tail like a crank to suck in all the food. Goopy now starts to play “Tiger Rag”, but his gloves come off his hands and start playing the tune themselves. Goopy soon joins his gloves in playing the tune four-handed, though he eventually puts them back on. Meanwhile, the ape waiter goes to the kitchen and asks for soup, prompting a chicken to jump into a pot of water, swim around, jump out, then dry himself with a towel. The waiter grabs a ladle and pours the water into a bowl. The girl dog from Freddy the Freshman now comes on stage, tells a joke with Goopy, then starts to sing “I Need Lovin'”. Meanwhile, a dog in the audience is blowing a balloon, but it gets away from him and flies under the crotch of the fat lady hippo from Smile, Darn Ya, Smile!. The portly hippo then socks the dog in the jaw. Goopy begins a dance number, while in the audience a turkey does a ballerina dance and two hat racks do an odd dance of their own. Foxy’s drunken horse from Lady, Play Your Mandolin! now enters, takes a swig of liquor, and starts breathing fire again. He looks into a mirror and sees a succession of monsters, topped off with an image of Mahatma Ghandi! The horse gets on stage and spits a fireball at Goopy’s piano. His piano is destroyed, but Goopy goes right on playing.
